Lauren Stedman began dancing at 4 years old in her hometown of Frisco, Texas where she grew a passion for dance and performing arts. Lauren was also a student at Eagle Gymnastics and a dancer at Legacy Dance Center where she trained in her favorite style of dance, Contemporary/Lyrical.

Lauren’s love for dance grew even stronger when she began Color Guard. Lauren has experience in competitive flag, rifle, and sabre spinning and had the honor of being named Lone Star High School Color Guard Team Captain her junior and senior year of high school. There, she helped lead her team to a second-place nationals finish; a school record. One of Lauren’s biggest accomplishments was attending the State UIL Marching Band competition twice with her Marching Band and Color Guard team. She was even recognized by the Frisco Independent School Board after the Marching Band and Color Guard placed 6th in the state in preliminaries, making finals for the first time in school history. Additionally, her Color Guard experience allotted Lauren many rewarding opportunities such as modeling in a Texas Motion Sports Catalog, and recently having the chance to collaborate with Park Hill Portraits on their dancer’s project. Although Lauren’s final competition season was cut short by the pandemic, she was able to persevere through and have an amazing, although unconventional end to her high school experience when she graduated in the spring of 2020.

When Lauren is not dancing, she attends the University of North Texas as an Honors student where she is pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Psychology with a minor in Applied Behavioral Analysis. Lauren plans to graduate spring of 2023, a whole year ahead of her class. After receiving her Bachelors, Lauren plans to pursue a Master’s degree and combine her love of Psychology and dance to conduct clinical research on Dance Therapy to help abuse and trauma victims. Additionally, Lauren dances with the University of North Texas Dance Department. Since September of 2021, Lauren has loved teaching at JDM and finds such joy in being a role model in children’s lives, and can’t wait to see what else is to come.
